Trickle Down: One Day of Water Use in the Life of an American
2013, porcelain.
Comprised of over one thousand porcelain cups, all of which, when filled equal the amount of water used by the average American individual in a day. But like most averages, that figure is skewed by those who consume more or less. That “more or less” tends to line up with wealth. Those who have more consuming more, and generally asking those who have less to cut back.
The piece is meant to be overwhelming, it starts at a point and it grows, it swells, pooling and consuming the space. Its name represents the flawed economic model that bolsters a flawed economic system that can be seen and felt in all parts for our lives, from unequal
education, to the liquid that comes out of our taps.
